In a ClassificationScheme?, the subordination of a class under more than one superordinate class is called cross-classification. Most taxonomies are simple tree structures or monohierarchies. Information architects should know that there are structures that impose some order on polyhierarchies (sometimes called entangled hierarchies). These include Faceted Classification and Lattices.
